Part III: Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall, Who Is The Fairest One of All?

THE JOURNEY...
As I mentioned in Part II my journey of self-discovery began immediately.  The greatest resource for me during this process has been the Word of God. By the way I should mention that whilst I spent most of my life in church; I rarely spent time studying the Word of God.  In order for anything or anyone to discover who they are, they must know their source, the only way to know this is by studying the word of God, the Master Architect's Blueprint.

After realizing I could no longer live in ignorance I delved in the Word.

Lesson 1. The bible says that we are created in the image and likeness of God. –Genesis 1:26-27. God is my creator who has given me His instruction manual to empower me to know who I am. It is God’s words that validate me, not man.

Lesson  2. After God created male and female, He said His work was GOOD. That word right there gave me my initial boost of confidence. It was as if God just stamped the word “APPROVED” right on my forehead. In the words of my Pastor, God said it; I believe it and that settles it!

Lesson 3. In Psalms 139 vs. 14- 16, David penned these words:
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

THE DISCOVERY...
After meditating on this Psalm it all started to come together. I began to think about how amazing the human body is. That only a Supreme Genius could think of creating beings as we are. I thought about how detailed God was when He designed the shapes of our bodies and organs in order for us to operate and function properly. I am certain that it hurts God when we look at ourselves and say we don’t look good because someone told us differently. It must hurt Him when we compare ourselves to others because the world decided make this false image of what real beauty is.

God made us all different for a reason. I believe God loves variety. Could you imagine what the world would be like if we all looked the same? Not cool right? So why do we call anything that God made unattractive or ugly for that matter? How dare we?

I want to encourage every woman out there who feels like they can never measure up to stop looking at your reflection through the mirrors of this world. It’s all a lie. Find your worth in the Word of God. You are unique; there is no one like YOU. Celebrate the fact that God made you exactly the way you are on PURPOSE. Yes, God wanted you to look exactly the way you are.

I dare you from this day forward to walk with confidence and boldness knowing that God made no mistakes and you were created for His purpose and to show forth His glory. Exchange your rejections for God’s stamped approval and acceptance as one of His many masterpieces!
