B.R.:  You gave birth to a lovely baby girl, Sydney who was born premature and many complications followed. Tell us about that?

V.C.:  At around 19 weeks of pregnancy, I began to have some bleeding. During a sonogram the doctors realized I had Placenta Previa, which is basically, the placenta does not move into the correct position and could cause serious problems to the mother and baby.  At around 25 weeks gestation, I was sleeping and thought my water broke because I felt a gush of fluid.  When I stood up I realized it was a complete flow of blood and I ran to the shower.

THE JOURNEY...

As I mentioned in Part II my journey of self-discovery began immediately.  The greatest resource for me during this process has been the Word of God. By the way I should mention that whilst I spent most of my life in church; I rarely spent time studying the Word of God.  In order for anything or anyone to discover who they are, they must know their source, the only way to know this is by studying the word of God, the Master Architect's Blueprint.

My life went downhill from that point.  I would meet guy, after guy, after guy, looking for acceptance and approval every chance I got.  I was hungry for it at all costs.  

I’m sure you are wondering well, what happened to your relationship with God? Weren’t you in church?  That’s a good question.  Yes I was in church.  I was even singing on the choir.  I was singing Sunday after Sunday about a God that I had been taught about…… but not a God that I KNEW for myself.   My outward show of worship was only a mask....I had a form of godliness but denied its power.

Weary from His journey to meet the Woman at the Well, Jesus’ first words to her was “Give me to drink”.  Her response was typical, considering not only her past but also her unpleasant status at that time in her life.  Little did she know, she had a river flowing in side of her from the foundation of the world.  All it took was one conversation with THE CHRIST, to cause a radical change in her life.  He made it clear that He already knew everything about her, but the hour had come for her to turn her life around.

I know we are all acquainted with this famous quote from the well known fairytale “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.  The “wicked” Queen asks the Magic Mirror this question every day and receives the response “You my Queen are the fairest one of all”.  However, one day, the Magic Mirror gives a different response that completely changes the disposition of the Queen.  On this day the Magic Mirror says “You, my Queen, are fair; it is true.  But Snow White is even fairer than you”.  The Queen flew into a jealous rage and orders the huntsman to kill Snow White.

When I first heard this story at the tender age of probably 3 or 4, I could only think of how cruel and wicked that Queen was.  Why would someone want to kill someone else because they were beautiful? That just isn’t right at all.

I remember walking down the street of Downtown Brooklyn, engaged in deep conversation looking as cute as a pie. Low and behold, a pothole attacked me and within seconds I was face down and bleeding perfusely from the knees. One look at DeShana and we burst into hysterical laughter while she tries desparately to seem more concerned than about to burst at the seams. This was the beginning of a hectic and most enjoyable day as hearts were pumping, palms sweaty and everyone on edge. Opening day of Behing Closed Doors written, directed and produced by DeShana Pitts. There was no going back now, the theater at LIU Brooklyn, Campus was full, the dream was a reality.
